FAYETTEVILL, Ark.-- McNeese State's Brad Gebauer capped off his collegiate indoor competition here Friday by winning the NCAA pole vault championship at the Randal Tyson Track Center with a vault of 18-0 1/2 inch. Rory Quiller of Binhamton University and Tyson Byers of Washington State also vaulted 18-0 1/2 inches, but Gebauer won the event on fewer misses at the winning height.

"This is great for Brad and our program. Coming in noone knew who McNeese was or where it was located. Now I think they know who McNeese is," said head coach Ty Sevin.

The height ties Gebauer's indoor personal best and he is only the second McNeese athlete to win a NCAA title. The other indoor champion came in 1996 when Michael Roberson won the high jump.
