Top High School Athletes To Watch At Sun Angel Classic

WATCH Sun Angel Classic LIVE On FloTrack!

The Sun Angel Classic begins tomorrow with the high school prelims, and you can watch it all live on FloTrack. Most track finals are Saturday; you can find the full schedule here. Below are the top ten athletes to watch.

All event times are listed in local time, which is Pacific.

Arizona's top three 100 meter hurdlers-Brielle Sterns, Leilani Conway, and Adora Adams-are competing. The prelims are at 12:24 PM on Thursday and the final is at 2:33 PM Saturday. Sterns and Conway went 1-2 in this event at Sun Angel last year, and Sterns is the three-time defending Arizona Division 2 state champion.

Robert Williams, who is ranked in the top eight in Arizona in the 100, 200, and 400, is competing in all three this weekend. You can catch him at 1:34 (100), 3:53 (400), and 5:48 (200) in Thursday's prelims, and 3:22 (400), 3:46 (100), and 8:05 PM (200) in Saturday's finals. Williams, a senior, finished in the top four in all three events at last May's Arizona Division 2 state championship.

Three of Arizona's best female distance runners will be there, all in the 1600 meters. Freshman Carolina McLeskey was 16th at NXN SW and 7th at the D1 Arizona state meet this fall in cross country. Senior Alexis Hocken won the Sun Angel 1600 last year in 5:11, just edging out now-sophomore Becca Taylor. The 1600m prelims begin at 6:36 PM Thursday, and the final is at 8:38 PM on Saturday night.

800m Division 1 Arizona state champion Daniel Lozano ran the 3200m here last year, but he's running his main event this year. The 1:55 man hasn't lost an 800 since March 2016, according to his MileSplit profile. He's currently the state leader. The 800 prelims are at 5:18 PM Thursday and the final is at 7:45 PM Saturday.

The college and pro action will feature at least two Olympic gold medalists in Matt Centrowitz and Greg Rutherford; we'll have a full preview of those events coming soon.
