Saving The Best For Last! Lake Braddock Girls Take Home DMR National Title

The Bruins from Lake Braddock High just capped off their season and careers in one of the best ways, with a national title as a team -- a first for the school.

The quartet of Samantha Schwers, Skyla Davidson, Shannon Browning and Kate Murphy led from the gun in the Distance Medley Relay and never looked back en route to a legacy defining national championship in 11:49.62.

This of course goes alongside their indoor national record in the same event.

The team started off strong with a 3:35 split on the 1200m before following it up with the second fastest 400 split of 58.37, then saw a 2:11 split on the 800 leg to give senior and Oregon signee Kate Murphy room to run.

She took a sizable lead heading into the 1600m anchor leg and brought it home in 5:03.

Glen Allen finished with All-American honors by finishing fourth in this race and had some impressive splits. Its 400m leg split of 56.69 by Star Price was by far the fastest split of the event and its 1600m leg split of 4:55.09 was also the fastest split of the event and was run by Caroline Robelen.
