Throwback Thursday: Kelsey Chmiel's 3000m At New York Relays

At the 2017 New York Relays at Icahn Stadium in New York City, Saratoga Springs' Kelsey Chmiel ran what was at the time a US No. 1 time in the 3000m.

She took the race from the gun and never looked back, finishing in 9:29.01. She would later go on to better that mark to 9:18.09, which she ran to win the Eddy Games almost a month later on May 20.

This year Chmiel has entered in the 3000m again, but the race might not be as easy to win. She could see some stiff competition from one of New Zealand's best in Charli Miller. Miller holds a PR of 9:32.96 from last April. This will be Chmiel's outdoor season opener and first race since her 10:02.36 runner-up finish in the 2-mile at New Balance Nationals Indoor in March.

You can watch the 2018 New York Relays live on MileSplit on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21.

Don't miss Chmiel's season opener as well as several other big events sure to be on tap with some of the Greater New York area's best set to compete. Check out more on the New York Relays including a full meet preview below.
