AMES, Iowa- A 20 point performance by University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff forward Shay Holmes almost provided enough spark for the Lady Lions to pull off an upset against the Iowa State Cyclones at Hilton Coliseum.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff fell to ISU 80-64 but the Lady Lions were able to gain several positives in what was a highly competitive outing. UAPB nearly tied Iowa States' second half scoring output tallying 37 points while limiting ISU to 38.
Rekevia Brown put together another solid performance as she netted 12 points and three rebounds. Point guard Laquisha Slaton chipped in 10 points off the bench on 4-of-6 shooting from the field.
The loss drops Arkansas-Pine Bluff to 1-6 on the season as they will now prepare to face Northwestern State on the road on Dec. 12th.
