JACKSON, Miss.-Garrison Johnson led all scorers with 18 points to lead Jackson State to a 57-54 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday night.
The Golden Lions (13-15, 13-4) offensive attack was spearheaded by Terrell Kennedy, who finished with 11 points. Lebaron Weathers contributed 10 points for UAPB, as the loss snaps a seven-game winning streak that dated back to February 6th.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Jackson State remain atop the SWAC standings at 13-4 and 15-1 respectively. The two teams have also clinched the number one and number two seeds at the 2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament set to be held March 10th- 13th in Shreveport, La. at Century Tel Arena.
The Golden Lions will close out their regular season schedule on Thursday, March 4th against Mississippi Valley State. The game will also be senior night for the Arkansas-Pine Bluff basketball program. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm at H.O. Clemmons Arena located on the campus of UAPB.
