PINE BLUFF, Ark.- The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Women's Basketball team assured themselves a trip to 2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference Basketball tournament with a 91-72 victory over rival Mississippi Valley State on Thursday.
Senior Tashayla Jackson provided the spark UAPB needed to knock off MVSU as the she connected on her first four three point attempts early in the contest giving the Lady Lions a 12-4 lead at the 16:38 mark of the first half.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff led by double-digits going into halftime up 48-36. The Lady Lions did not let up in the second half as they scored 43 additional points led by Jackson's 20, and Jasmine Abrams' 17 points.
UAPB will enter the tournament as a No. 6, 7 or 8 seed depending on Saturday nights' SWAC results. Arkansas-Pine Bluff will play on the opening day of the tournament March 10th at Century Tel Arena in Shreveport.
