HU Cross Country's Biwott and Evans Earn All-Academic Honor

Andrew Evans was one of two Harding runners named USTFCCCA All-Academic.

SEARCY – Two members of the Harding men's cross country team were among a total of 208 NCAA Division II student-athletes who earned 2011 All-Academic status from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Harding's Philip Biwott and Andrew Evans received the honor Thursday.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team in Division II, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater through the most-recent semester, completed at least 12 credit hours in the semester of cross country competition, and placed in the top 50 percent at the most recent NCAA National Championships or in the top 30 percent at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Biwott is a senior management major with a 3.42 grade point average. The Eldoret, Kenya native was Harding's top finisher at the NCAA Division II South Central Region Meet, placing 14th.

A native of Rogers, Ark., Evans placed 42nd at the regional meet. Evans is a junior mechanical engineering major with a 3.44 GPA.
