Ebenja, Zaborowska Shine on Day 1 at Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Harding senior Cathy Ebenja and freshman Ewa Zaborowska continued their outstanding indoor track season Friday at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet.

Ebenja, a native of Little Rock, Ark., broke her own school record and ran the seventh-fastest 60-meter dash time in Division II this season. She placed second of 32 runners with an NCAA provisional time of 7.61 seconds, breaking her old school record of 7.70.

Zaborowska, who hails from Poland, placed fourth of 23 runners in the 800 meters in 2:11.08, also an NCAA provisional time. Because the track at Grand Valley State is a 300-meter flat oval, Zaborowska's time is converted to 2:11.48 for ranking purposes. Even with the 0.40-second penalty, her time is the fourth-fastest in Division II this season.

Harding freshman Dallis Bailey also ran in the 800 meters, finishing with a personal-best time of 2:18.44.

Junior Tiffany Chambers cleared her first three heights in the pole vault, the last at 11 feet, 3.75 inches. Chambers missed all three vaults at 11-09.75, which would have been a new Harding record and finished 19th.

Ebenja came back Saturday to compete in the open 60 meter dash and defeated 68 other runners with a time of 7.75 seconds. Chambers also competed again on Day 2 and placed fourth of 28 competitors in the pole vault, clearing 11-05.75 and tying her personal best.

Both Lady Bisons who ran in the 3,000 meters Saturday set personal-best times. Rachel Roberts placed 17th of 66 runners in 10:57.51, and Amber Priest placed 23rd in 11:05.98.
