By Kelly Tuckwiller for MSNsportsNET.com March 13, 2010   MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team completed the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., this evening with a 10th-place finish, as all seven student-athletes earned All-America honors.     West Virginia finished a school-best 10th at this year's indoor nationals in Fayetteville, Ark. Ilora Cipolat photo “Track and field, like all sports is about rolling at the right time,” coach Sean Cleary says. “2010 brought with it a 10th-place national finish and 10 All-America awards. This is the greatest moment collectively in WVU track and field history. To have our cross country team finish sixth in the nationals this fall and now to see this group emulate a top 10 finish themselves is historic. The efforts of this very special group of student-athletes, our coaching staff, combined with the fan support that we have developed over the years, surely makes this a very special moment.”   WVU earned the highest ranking of any BIG EAST team as it scored 18 points for 10th place. Oregon finished in the top spot with 61 points, while Tennessee finished second (36), LSU in third (35), Florida in fourth (33) and Texas A&M in fifth (31). Continued

Hayes Finishes Sixth at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Mar 14, 2010

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Jernail Hayes (Newark, Del.) finished in sixth place in the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Indoor Track Field Championships on Saturday to conclude the indoor season. Hayes ran a time of 53.02 in the preliminary heat of the competition on Friday, and improved her time to 52.66 in the finals. The men's 4x400-meter relay team was disqualified in the preliminaries.

Seniors Fawn Dorr (Akron, N.Y.), and Bridget Franek (Hiram, Ohio) added two more All-America finishes to the weekend count, Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Championships at Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas. In front of a crowd of well over 5,000 spectators, the Nittany Lions picked up two more top eight efforts in the 800-meters, with juniors Ryan Foster (Tasmania, Australia), and Owen Dawson (Coatesville, Pa.) tallying third and eighth-place finishes, respectively - the second All-America finish for Foster, and the first for Dawson. All told, the Lions come away from the weekend with an outstanding total of four All-Americans, with four on the men's side, and four from the women's squad.

Mookie Salaam earned All-America honors Friday as three Oklahoma Track and Field athletes advanced to individual event finals in the first of two days at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
