STATE MEET PREVIEW - GIRLS

1A/2A

Team:

In the girls 1A/2A battle it looks like 2A Quitman High School is the team to beat. With a team average time over a minute better than the next best school and the lowest 1-5 split, Quitman looks to cruise to the state title. The battle for second place is a little bit closer. 1A Acorn High School and 2A Western Yell County have very similar average team times and both have a 1-5 split just over 4 minutes. Western Yell's fate will be determined by their 4th and 5th runners.

Prediction:

1st: Quitman

2nd: Acorn

3rd: Western Yell

Individual:

The individual state title should go to senior Gabby Bloch from Eureka Springs. Gabby finished 3rd last year behind two of the top runners this state has seen. Last years winner Elizabeth Gillette has moved on to run for Arkansas State and runner-up Tori Willis has moved from Haas Hall to Bentonville. This opens the door for Gabby to finish her senior XC season as state champ! There might be a tight race for second place. Andrea Balbuena from Western Yell County and Hailey Trawick from Quitman should duel down the stretch for the runner-up spot.

Prediction:

1st: Gabby Block
