Thelma Davies Runs NCAA-Leading 200

Thelma Davies has wasted little time making her presence felt at the collegiate level.

The 2019 Girard College graduate and current LSU freshman ran the NCAA's fastest time of the season so far in the 200 meters at Friday night's Razorback Invitational at the University of Arkansas. Davies clocked a time of 22.96 to run away with the victory and rise to the top of the national rankings.

Davies, who rewrote the Pennsylvania state record book in the sprints during her four years at Girard, enjoyed a breakthrough performance on Friday. Davies opened up back on January 18 at Texas Tech where she matched her 60 meter PR from high school with a 7.30. Then she ran 23.63 over 200 meters in New Mexico on January 25.

But Friday's Arkansas performance was a major step forward for the frosh, who topped her previous indoor personal best of 23.51 (also the PA high school state record). Watch the race below, via LSU Track & Field Twitter.
