Throwback Thursday: Norman Grimes' Versatility Over Hurdles

Canyon's (TX) 2016 graduate Norman Grimes can hurdle the competition. In 2015, Grimes ran the nation's fastest 300mH and the 400mH. He clocked a 36.10 at the Texas Relays for the 300mH and 49.11 at the IAAF World Youth Championships for the 400mH. During his senior year, he ran a 50.50 at the Texas Tech Raider Open, which was the number one time in the nation.

Not only did Grimes compete in the 300mH and the 400mH, but he also incorporated speed work and ran the 110mH. He won his first Texas Relays title in the 110mH in 2016, running 14.04 (-1.1) to win the division two final.

Norman continued his academic and athletic career as a Texas Tech Red Raider, becoming a Big 12 Champion in the 400mH and the 2019 NCAA Division 1 runner up at 48.71, helping Texas Tech to the team title, it's first NCAA crown in any men's sport.
