When Hunter Woodhall was born with a degenerative disease, his family decided to amputate both of his legs. That didn't stop Woodhall from playing sports and challenging himself. He decided to join the track team in the seventh grade because he felt included with his friends. He continued to work hard and began his high school career at Syracuse (UT).
As a sophomore, Woodhall stepped onto the track, got in his starting blocks, and raced in the 400m at the 2015 Great Southwest Classic. He won his heat with a 49.15. In ensuing years he added a handful of international medals to his collection:
- 2017 World Paralympic Championships 200m Silver Medalist
- 2017 World Paralympic Championships 400m Silver Medalist
- 2016 Rio Paralympic Games 200m Silver Medalist
- 2016 Rio Paralympic Games 400m Bronze Medalist
- 2015 IPC World Championships 400m Silver Medalist
- 2015 IPC World Championships 200m Bronze Medalist
Concluding his high school career, he set personal bests of 10.91 in the 100m, 21.12 in the 200m and 48.15 in the 400m. Woodhall became the Utah state record holder for the 400m and 4x400m while adding a total of five state titles to his resume.
He now competes for the University of Arkansas and has made a big impact for that program on their relays and in his individual events.
