Sign Up For The Boundary Battle At West Chester Henderson


A big postseason meet is coming to West Chester Henderson later this month. On Saturday, Nov. 21, Henderson is hosting some races on the track.

There will be a competitive elite high school 5K that will feature some top athletes from the state, as well as open 3200 meter and 5Ks races. There are already some big names confirmed, including Jenna Mulhern, the District 1 XC champion that placed fifth at the PIAA State Championships this past week.

Races start at noon. There will also be some elite men's and women's 5Ks after the high school action.

Here's some more meet information from the meet director:

The Boundary Battle lets athletes challenge themselves against the fastest high school, community and elite distance runners in the Mid-Atlantic region. 

High School 5000m: In this state versus state elite high school battle royal, athletes will be teamed with other runners from their home state and the meet will be scored like an invitational with top honors going to the state with the lowest combined score through 5 runners. 

Elite Athlete 5000m: After the high school runners light up the track with some fast times, the elite men and women's fields will toe the line and dig deep for some serious speed!  The fields for the elite races are starting to ramp up and should feature some of the best runners on the east coast. Open 3200m and 5000m: There's also an opportunity for athlete of all abilities to run a fast 3200m or 5k on Henderson's newly resurfaced, lightning fast track! This is a great way to end your season and give college coaches a chance to see a fast time from you.

Where: Henderson High School, 400 Montgomery Avenue, West Chester, PA 19380. 

When: Saturday, November 21, 2020. Heats will start at Noon and go through the afternoon as necessary. *** Entries will close on Thursday, November 19. Final entry lists, heat sheets, and time schedules will be sent via email at that time.

Safety: This meet will follow all Covid-19 safety guidelines.  Here are the main things:

  1. You must wear a mask into the stadium and when you're not running.
  2. All out of State athletes must have a negative Covid-19 test within ten days of the meet.
  3. Anyone who is showing symptoms or has been exposed to Covid-19 is asked to stay home.
  4. We'd like to limit spectators to 1-2 per athlete.  They must wear a mask into the Stadium and social distance while inside the stadium.
  5. Athletes are asked to leave the infield after there race.
  6. Warmups can be done on the practice football field or around town.
