Flashback: Starliper Reclaims FLNE Title

Today would have brought us the Foot Locker Northeast Regional Championships from Van Cortlandt Park in New York. Like many other big events in 2020, this year's edition of the regional meet was canceled.

So we're looking back at last year, when Northern senior Marlee Starliper reclaimed the regional crown. Starliper won FLNE as a sophomore, but was defeated by eventual national champion Sydney Masciarelli as a junior.

Starliper stormed back last year in her last FLNE to take the win in 17:03, the second fastest time in meet history. It was also the fastest time ever by a PA girl at FLNE. Masciarelli placed second this time around.

Starliper bided her time and made a move in the last mile and extended her gap on Masciarelli from there, winning by 15 seconds.
