PINE BLUFF, Ark.- As the conclusion of the 2009 Fall semester has arrived the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Athletics Department is pleased announce that UAPB student-athletes have once again continued to raise the bar academically evident by their 3.02 overall grade point average for the semester with a total of nine different sports having a 2.93 grade point average or above.
“It has been our Athletics Department's philosophy that championships are won in the classroom,” said UAPB Athletic Director Louis “Skip” Perkins Jr. "The success that we've been able to achieve academically over the past three years is a direct reflection of an overall commitment to academics by our coaches and administrators. I commend our Head Coaches on the tremendous jobs they've done regarding our student-athletes first semester grades.”
Currently the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff also ranks as one of the top institutions in the state as well as the Southwestern Athletic Conference in student-athlete graduation rates.
