EUGENE, Oregon- Terrance Calvin's 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor wasn't enough to lift the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions over the Oregon Ducks on Monday.
The 73-53 loss to Oregon brings a close to the non-conference portion of the Golden Lions schedule. UAPB trailed Oregon 27-24 at halftime after playing stifling defense through the first 20 minutes of play.
Both teams struggled shooting the ball in the first half as Arkansas-Pine Bluff went 10-of-29 from the field while limiting the Ducks to a 9-of-25 shooting performance.
The second half brought a change of fate as Oregon began to have success from the perimeter connecting on 16-of-23 shot attempts. The Ducks outscored UAPB 46-29 in the second half as OU forward Michael Dunigan led all scorers with 26 points.
The Golden Lions will now have a week to regroup before traveling to Greenville, Miss. to face Mississippi Valley State in their conference opener. The contest is set for Monday, Jan. 4th at the Greenville Convention Center with tip-off slated for 7:30 pm.
