GREENVILLE, Miss.- The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions outlasted Mississippi Valley State in a contest that featured 13 ties and eight lead changes. UAPB's Lebaron Weathers' jump shot with less than ten seconds remaining helped lift Arkansas-Pine Bluff to a 69-68 win over MVSU.

The game was played close throughout the duration of the contests, but Arkansas-Pine Bluff was able to use a 7-0 run to take a 33-26 lead going into intermission. The only double digit advantage of the evening came after a Weathers' three-point shot that started the second half of play, but MVSU battled back with a 14-4 run to tie the game at 44 with 13 minutes remaining.

Mississippi Valley State held a five point cushion late in the game before two Tavaris Washington dunks and a Terrance Calvin layup put the Golden Lions back ahead. Arkansas-Pine Bluff nearly won the game in regulation, but a MVSU jump shot in the closing seconds sent the game into overtime.

Weathers's 20 points led a total of four Golden Lions in double figures. Tyree Glass tallied 16 points, while Terrance Calvin and Tavaris Washington each contributed 10 points apiece for the Golden Lions who moved to 1-0 in SWAC play with the victory.
