PINE BLUFF, Ark.-Terrance Calvin scored 21 points and Tavaris Washington added 16 points as Arkansas-Pine Bluff routed the Alcorn State Braves with a 93-59 victory on Monday night in front of an excited UAPB home crowd.
A total of thirteen players scored for the Golden Lions (4-12, 4-1 SWAC), who are officially off to their best conference start in school history.
UAPB scored a season high in points and have now won four of their past five games. The Golden Lions went into halftime up 50-34 and extended its lead to as many as 36 points in the second half of play spearheaded by the hot shooting of Calvin who went 7-of-12 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.
Washington missed only two shots during the contests as he went 7-of-9 from the field including several electrifying slam dunks in the first and second half.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will now get set to play Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern on Jan. 23th and 25th, respectively. The two games will be critical for all teams involved as currently Arkansas-Pine Bluff sits in a three-way tie for first place in the conference with Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, and Jackson State.
