HOUSTON, Texas- Deandre Hall scored 21 points and Travele Jones added 18 as Texas Southern was able to squeak past Arkansas-Pine Bluff 70-67 Monday night.
Tavaris Washington contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Golden Lions (5-2 SWAC) while Terrance Calvin scored a team-high 17 points. UAPB entered the contest riding the waves of a three game winning streak.
TSU was able to outshoot Arkansas Pine Bluff 47.2 percent to 32.3 percent. The Golden Lions kept the game close by outrebounding the Tigers 50-32 and converting 25-of-39 free throws. Texas Southern went 17 of 30 from the line.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will return home this weekend for a four-game home stand beginning with the Grambling State Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 30th. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm at H.O. Clemmons Arena located on the campus of UAPB.
