PINE BLUFF, Ark.- After defeating the Jackson State Lady Tigers in convincing fashion by the score of 65-46 the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions were able to improve their Southwestern Athletic Conference record to 3-6.
A total of 13 Lady Lions contributed points during the dominating victory led by Shay Holmes who tallied 11 points and 4 rebounds. Jasmine Blanks added 9 for UAPB on a 4-of-7 shooting night from the field.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff led by only two points at halftime but erupted in the second half offensively taking a double digit lead early in the half. UAPB outscored Jackson State 38-21 in the second half to secure an impressive victory over a team that is only two years removed from a conference championship.
The Lady Lions are now half way through their conference schedule. With nine games remaining UAPB will look to stay hot as they get set to play Alabama A&M on Saturday, Feb. 6th. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
