Bryant's Jayden Welch & Matthew Nelson Sweep Hornet Relays

Two weeks ago, Jayden Welch and Matthew Nelson opened their seasons at the Benton HS Invitational.

While Welch won the 110m hurdles, Nelson came back to win the 300m event after finishing 2nd in the 110m earlier. Last night at the Bryant Hornet Relays, the duo did it again.

For a second straight week, the pair of star hurdlers from Bryant have dominated, scoring 28 points in the hurdle events for the Hornets - this week, leading their team to a 132-point victory.

Nelson set a new personal best in the 300mH en route to his second victory of the season, running a 39.19 - a new AR #2. In the 110mH, Welch is ranked 4th, while Nelson ranks 5th.

Welch scored points in other ways too. The senior from Bryant finished 2nd in the triple jump, 3rd in the high jump, and 7th in the pole vault completing a long day of competition.

Together, the pair makes Bryant one of 6A's most dangerous teams and gives the Hornets a fighting chance against some of the title favorites in Northwest Arkansas.
