Victories to Memories: Josiah Rainey Wins Twice in Vilonia

While Josiah Rainey and Sylvan Hills are not scheduled to compete at this year's Jerry Roberts Memorial Relays, we can still look back and appreciate the stretch of greatness the senior sprint star has experienced at Vilonia's premier track meet over the last three years.

In 2022, Rainey picked up a pair of decisive wins in the 200m and 400m dash events, running 22.48 and 51.70 respectively. It was the freshman's first-ever event win in the 400m and second in the 200m.

The following year, Rainey would attempt to win the 100m dash, an event he finished 3rd in a year before. Although Rainey came up short, finishing 2nd, the sophomore still improved upon his finish by 0.07 seconds.

Last season in his final Jerry Roberts Memorial, Rainey completed the event's triple crown, winning the 100m dash in 11.05 - the beginning of an undefeated streak that carried him through the 5A State Championships and Meet of Champions. Rainey finished the season with the fastest time in the state in the event (10.38) - a US #82.

Rainey's performances in the 100m and 200m dash events are ranked 4th all time in meet history and he is ranked 12th all-time in the 400m.

Sylvan Hills is scheduled to compete next in the 4th Annual Pinnacle Structures Leon White Invite tomorrow at Cabot High School.
