Early Week Results: Cabot Wins 10 Events at Home

I have always felt as if the outdoor season truly starts once the calendar turns to April.

After a length break, we're back on the track (or the field) and in the home stretch before the state championships next month.

As the action heats up throughout the week, lets take a look a few performances that took place on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Jackson Bates Wins at Home

Cabot picked up ten event wins on their home track Tuesday night and one of those came from their senior thrower in the shot put.

Jackson Bates threw over 50-feet for a second consecutive meet en route to his second win of the season in the event. In the discus, Bates finished 6th and set a new personal best.

As the postseason nears, Bates owns the second best mark in 6A this season, having thrown 52-0 at the Bryant Hornet Relays last month.

Chris O'Gary Continues Amazing Season

It's been quite the start of the outdoor season for Benton's standout sprinter.

Last night at the Leon White Invite, Chris O'Gary picked up another win in the 200m dash, running a 21.90 - a new AR #1 and the first sprinter from Arkansas to dip under-22 seconds in the event this season.

A year removed from winning the 100m dash at this meet, the junior from Benton finished 2nd in the event earlier in the day continuing what has been the best season of his high school career to this point.

Camarion Davis Sets US #1 in High Jump

There's nothing like showing out in front of the home fans.

On Monday night at the Blazer Nestle Invitational, Camarion Davis picked up his first win of the season, jumping 6-9 in the high jump - a new AR #1, setting the record 3 inches higher than it was previously.

The junior from Valley View is now the man to beat in one the state's premier events following his stunning 9 inch personal best.

Kenzie Pruett Defends Hometrack/Homefield

In her final home high school track meet, Kenzie Pruett did something she's done throughout her entire high school career - win a lot.

The senior from Cabot scored three wins last night at the Leon White Invite, falling short of the four wins from last spring. Pruett crossed the line first in the 100m hurdles and 400m dash and picked up her first win of the season in the long jump.

With four weeks left until the state championships, Pruett has positioned herself nicely and is ranked inside the state's top 10 in four different events - 110mH, 300mH, 400m, and long jump.

Chris Hardin Sets AR #1 in 400m

After six long weeks, the state of Arkansas finally has its first sub 50 second 400m runner.

Chris Hardin scored his first win of the season in the 400m dash back in February, but saved plenty for his second attempt at the event, running under 50 seconds for the first time in his high school career to win the event at the Blazer Nestle Invitational.

As we near the postseason, the junior from Marion has established himself as a top contender in the 5A 400m dash and to win his first state championship.

Kolby Hurst and Jaxon Ramsey' Epic High Jump Duel

There are very few events in track & field that have more exciting finishes than high jump.

Last night at the Goblin Relays, Kolby Hurst and Jaxon Ramsey each set personal best marks in the event, jumping 6-6. Hurst, a senior from Flippin, set a new AR 3A #1 and continues his incredible undefeated season. While Ramsey, a senior from Harrison, won this event last year, his performance this spring is still good enough for a new AR 5A #2.
