Women's Soccer Signs Eight For 2010 Season

2009 SWAC Soccer Champions
PINE BLUFF, Ark. – University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Head Women's Soccer Coach Roberto Mazza announced the addition of eight commitments for the 2010 campaign in what is expected to be the highest rated class during Mazza's three-years at the helm of the Lady Lions soccer program.

The exceptional group looks to build on a solid 2009 season that saw a young Lady Lions team win their first SWAC championship in team history and advance to the NCAA National Tournament tallying a school record for most single season wins (12).

“This is a unique signing class for the Lady Lions”, said Mazza. “This group covers every void we were looking to fill. This is a very diverse class in the sense that they cover all of our positions. We have goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards.  We're excited about their ability, and what they will bring to our team. There's something unique about each one of these players, and I feel they will fit in well into our system of play.”

Arkansas-Pine Bluff will host the 2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference Soccer Tournament which should provide the Lady Lions extra incentive to get back to the title game. With the addition of a solid cast of newcomers Mazza fells his team will have a great chance of continuing to compete at a high level.

“I think we have more depth than we've ever had on our team Mazza added. “ We'll also have more competition in our practices than we've ever had. I can't wait until August to get here so we can take it and put it all together. We will have unlimited potential in every position. I was very selective when recruiting this class because we are returning eight starters from a 2009 Championship team”.
