PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions basketball team was able to notch a huge conference victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday evening at home.
Despite a strong start from the Lady Panthers, UAPB was able to take full control of the contest in the second half to cruise to a 72-59 win.
Jasmine Abrams paced the Lady Lions (6-18, 5-9 SWAC) with 12 points and 10 rebounds. UAPB's Jasmine Blanks scored 12, and Laquisha Slaton added 11 points.
PVAMU held a 20-14 lead over Arkansas-Pine Bluff with 6:31 left in the first half before the Lady Lions were able to close the half on a 14-4 run taking a 28-24 advantage into halftime.
The second half was dominated by UAPB as they built as much as a 19-point lead spearheaded by solid defense and timely buckets.
UAPB will face Texas Southern on Monday at 5:30 pm at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
