Bishops' Score 82 Points, Providence Academy Wins 3A Title

Entering yesterday's 3A State Championships, we knew Providence Academy would be relying on big day's from the state's most dangerous sibling duo, and that's exactly what they got.

Gabbie and Maggie Bishop have been lights-out all season, finishing at the top of every race they line up for, and nothing changed last night in Prescott.

Gabbie was phenomenal, scoring wins in the 400m, 800m, 1,600m, and 3,200m, adding 40 points to her team's point total while her younger sister, Maggie, would continue to pile on, finishing 2nd in the same four events, and even leading off for the state champion 4x400m relay team as well, adding an extra 42 points to the team total.

Jane Adams was also responsible for a large amount of points for the Patriots, finishing 3rd in the 800m, 1,600m, and 3,200m distance races, while also anchoring the state champion 4x800m relay team.

Gabbie, a junior, continues her storybook season, which includes wins in the 1,600m at the Texas Distance Festival and 3,200m at the Texas Relays, while Maggie, a freshman, is the top-ranked freshman in the state in the 1,600m and 3,200m.

It would be safe to assume the siblings from Rogers, Arkansas have a little racing remaining this season and it will be exciting to see where they race next.

Providence Academy crusied to their first 3A state title, scoring 149 points and beating second place by 96.

Congratulations to the Bishops, Jane, and the entire Providence Academy program on their 3A girls state championship!
