GRAMBLING, La.- The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions Basketball lost a 54-44 decision to the Grambling State Lady Tigers on Saturday.
Tashayla Jackson and Jasmine Abrams led UAPB led in scoring tallying 12 and 11 points respectively. Jenise Gentry added 9 points and 2 rebounds on a night in which Arkansas-Pine Bluff struggled on the offensive end of the floor.
The loss drops UAPB to 6-10 in conference place and into a tie for the eighth and final SWAC tournament spot. Grambling State raced out of the gates in the first half building a double digit lead they would hold going into halftime (32-18).
The Lady Lions outscored Grambling State in the second 26 to 22 half but it was not enough to lift UAPB to a much needed conference victory.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will now look to sweep Jackson State on Monday evening as they will face the Lady Tigers for the final time during the regular season. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm in Jackson.
