Who saw this one coming?
Aside from Coach Edwards and the four girls on Paragould's 4x800m relay team, I don't think there were very many people who were picking the Rams to win the 5A state title on Thursday - yet, here we are.
The newly formed team of Kaelyn Edwards, Kallie Jackson, Aniya Dorsey, and Starlyn Edwards took the state by storm, winning the first race of the day in Vilonia and capturing the program's first-ever relay state title in just their second race as a team.
Comprised of two sophomores, a senior, and a freshman, it's safe to say this won't be the last time we're talking about Paragould.
Kaleyn got the party started up front, running a two-second personal best as the opening leg, eventually getting the baton to her sister, who cruised to a 2:17 anchor-leg, sealing to door shut on Lake Hamilton, and winning the 5A girls 4x800m title by over 12 seconds, running a 9:46.69 - a new AR #4 and just five seconds off the 5A state record.
The Rams are entered in the 4x400m relay later tonight and the same four runners will lace up their spikes for the final race of the season.
Congratulations to the Paragould Rams!
