JACKSON, Miss.- A last second comeback attempt fell short on Monday night as the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions basketball team dropped their second consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference game losing to the Jackson State Lady Tigers 67-64.
Jasmine Abrams led all Lady Lions scorers with 14 points on a 6-of-13 shooting night form the floor. Shay Holmes and Rekevia Brown both added 10 points as the loss drops the Lady Lions to 6-11 in SWAC play with one game remaining on their regular season schedule.
Jackson State led 35-29 going into the break but the Lady Lions rebounded in the second outscoring JSU 35-32. With two seconds left on the game clock UAPB's Jasmine Blanks was afforded an open look at the basket with the chance to send the game into overtime but she was unable to connect.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will need to either beat Mississippi Valley State on Thursday at home or look for help from Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern as they face Alcorn State. If the Lady Lions win on Thursday they will lock up a berth at the 2010 SWAC Basketball Tournament set for March 10th-13th in Shreveport, La. at Century Tel Arena.
Tip-off for Thursday's game is set for 5:30 pm at H.O. Clemmons Arena located on the campus of UAPB.
