It's every program's dream to have the academic year that the boys from Mountain Home had.
From start to finish, the Bombers were the standard bearer in 5A, winning state titles in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track in commanding fashion.
It all started this fall in Hot Springs, where the distance boys continued their dominance, winning their 4th state championship in 6 years.
After a pair of podium finishes in 2023, Connor King and Garrett Barr returned to lead the team and were joined by Jackson Free, a junior transfer from Missouri and eventual 5A cross country state champion. Together, one of the state's best trios led the Bombers to several wins, including the one that mattered most.
That trio continued to capture magic on the track from January through May, combining to win several individual and relay state titles, and were joined by a fleet of athletes who would continue to contribute to the Bombers' magical year.
Eli Jones became a star in 2025, becoming one of the nation's best throwers. After winning the shot put in 5A at the indoor state meet, the senior set a pair of AR #1's in the shot put and discus en route to winning both events at the 5A State Championships in Vilonia.
The Bombers found a lot of success in the pole vault too. Zach Daugherty and Adam Jones were two of Arkansas best vaulters throughout 2025, combining to win five events. At the state meet, the pair scored an important 12 points to help push the team ahead early in the day.
Taylon Peterson picked up 6 points of his own in the triple jump at the 5A indoor state meet, setting an AR # on his third and final jump of the day.
Mountain Home also scored a combined 18 points in the 4x200m and 4x400m, receiving help across the board from several sprinters during the indoor and outdoor seasons - Barrett Miller, Ben Souder, Gus Wilber, and Reece Lara.
Dominance like this is rare to find, and now one of Northern Arkansas best has laid out the blueprint for all to see - can anyone catch the Bombers?
