DAYTON, Ohio-The Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions, the 2010 SWAC Tournament Champions, will face Winthrop of the Big South Conference in the Opening Round Game of the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
The Golden Lions are set to make their first trip to the NCAAs in school history. UAPB entered the SWAC in 1997-98 and has qualified for the SWAC Tournament each of the last six years.
“We're extremely excited about the opportunity to play in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament against Winthrop,” said UAPB head coach George Ivory. “Our players are eager for the tournament to begin on Tuesday and we look forward to what should be an exciting game between to good basketball teams.”
The game will broadcast live on ESPN with tip-off scheduled for 6:30 pm . UAPB's George Ivory is also scheduled to be featured on ESPN's First Take on ESPN2 at 9:50 am on Monday, March 16th.
