Lilly Beshears Qualifies For Brooks Nationals

Lilly Beshears may have narrowly missed out on an NXN return last week in College Station, but anyone who follows high school distance running knew this: it was going to take something extraordinary to keep the Rogers senior from qualifying for another national championship. On Saturday at the 2025 Brooks South Regional Championships, she proved exactly why.

Just five days earlier at NXR South, Beshears finished ninth overall in 17:21, an outstanding run but one that placed her just outside the five individual qualifying spots. It was a tough outcome, especially given that her time was faster than several qualifiers from other regions. But Brooks South presented a second chance, and the BYU commit made sure it didn't slip away.

Racing with purpose and patience on the familiar McAlpine Park course, Beshears surged when it mattered most, ultimately finishing fifth overall in 17:10, her second-fastest time of the season. Only her electrifying 16:47 season opener at Southlake was quicker. Her performance in Charlotte not only secured her a berth to Brooks Nationals in San Diego but reaffirmed her status as one of the South's premier distance runners.

This marks her second consecutive qualification to a high school national championship, following her impressive seventh-place finish in San Diego in 2024. And with steady progression throughout the fall, Arkansas state champion (17:29), NXR South podium contender (17:21), Brooks South qualifier (17:10)-Beshears sits firmly in the tier of athletes capable of contending for a top-10 finish on the national stage once again.

Her 2025 season resume underscores her consistency and high ceiling:

Lilly Beshears - 2025 Season Highlights

  • 17:10 - 5th, Brooks South Regional Championships (Nationals Qualifier)

  • 17:21 - 9th, NXR South Regional Championships

  • 17:29 - 1st, Arkansas 6A State Championship (Repeat Champion)

  • 16:47 - 1st, Southlake XC Invite (Season Opener & Season Best)

In a year where depth across the South Region reached new heights, Beshears once again rose to the top, matching experience with execution. Now, as she prepares for one final high school cross-country race in San Diego, she returns not as a newcomer, but as a proven national-level threat with unfinished business.

If her late-season momentum is any indication, Lilly Beshears may be running her best when it counts most.
