PINE BLUFF, Ark.-After his first season as Arkansas-Pine Bluff women's basketball coach, Cary Shelton announces the addition of Angela Rochell and Brandi Harris to his staff for the 2010-2011 season. Last season, the Lady Lions' 8-22 season ended with a 64-60 first round loss to Southern in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament.
Rochell, an Arkansas native, helped lead Star City High School to a Class 8AA state title as a senior in 1990. Rochell then went on to play at Arkansas from 1990-1994, where as a freshman, won the Southwestern Conference Tournament and earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament.
Harris, an Arizona native, helped lead Thunderbird High School to a Class 4A state title her junior year and was state runner up her senior year. Harris joins Shelton's staff after a playing career at Barton County Community College, University of Nevada, Reno and Western New Mexico University.
“They're two young coaches who are ready to get in here and learn the trade,” Shelton says about his new assistants.
