ALCORN STATE, Miss. - Arkansas-Pine Bluff stormed to a 27-7 lead but Alcorn State came back to take a 35-27 lead heading to the fourth quarter. The Golden Lions, however, regrouped and scored the game's final 12 points for a 39-35 win on national television.
Stephen Jones scored on a 10-yard touchdown with 7:03 to play to give UAPB a 36-35 lead, which it kept for good. The Golden Lions added a Chris Ewald 42-yard field goal and then held on for the victory.
Alcorn State's final drive failed inside the five-yard-line with less than a minute to play as Brandon Bridge's pass attempt fell incomplete.
The victory improves the Golden Lions to 4-3 and 3-2 in the SWAC while Alcorn State dropped to 3-4 and 2-3 in the SWAC.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will face the Grambling State Tigers in the Annual Delta Classic 4 Literacy in Little Rock at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, October 30th. Kickoff time has been set for 1:30 pm.
