Freshman Britney Boler (Black) Scores in 4th Minute of Play

PINE BLUFF, AR – The Lady Lions are undefeated in SWAC conference play after today's win against Grambling State University. UAPB's record in SWAC play is 7-0-0 in conference and 12-5-0 overall going into the SWAC tournament.

The Lady Lions came out with intensity at the beginning of the game and capitalized on an early opportunity on goal. At the 4th minute, junior Rachel Harker played the ball out wide to freshman Molly Stone. Stone crossed the ball into the box where freshman Britney Boler was there to attack the ball. Boler sent the ball into the back of the net on a first-time strike.

UAPB would score again at the 30th minute. Rachel Harker was again involved in the play when she found the feet of senior Daphnee Cadet off a through ball. Cadet struck the ball and beat GSU goalkeeper Jordan Taylor with a low shot to the far left of the goal.

The Lady Lions continued to string passes together and play good two-touch soccer in the second half. At the 68th minute, junior Nicole Parks-Powell passed the ball out wide to freshman Kristy Martinez. Martinez crossed the ball into the box and Molly Stone struck the ball on a first-time touch and found the back of the net. UAPB just missed the shutout when the Lady Tigers scored at the 88th minute.

The game ended in UAPB's favor at 3-1. The Lady Lions outshot the Lady Tigers 10-7 throughout the game. UAPB's goalkeeper senior Bre-Ann Laypoole recorded four saves in today's game.

Today's victory was even more special because it was UAPB soccer's senior day. Seniors Bre-Ann Laypoole and Daphnee Cadet were both honored for there commitment to UAPB soccer at the beginning of the match. Laypoole played all four years at UAPB. This is Cadet's first year at UAPB because she is a transfer student.

Today's game was a history making event for the UAPB Lady Lions soccer program. This marks the first time that UAPB soccer has ever achieved an undefeated record in regular-season conference play. This also marks the first time that UAPB soccer has ever beaten the Lady Tigers of Grambling State.

“I am very proud of the girls for they have achieved here today. Grambling came out to play and they gave us tough time. The girls were able to battle back and do the little things correct. The girls achieved a great accomplishment today by being undefeated in conference play and by beating GSU for the first time in this program's history. We are excited for the conference tournament coming up next week!”

The SWAC Soccer Tournament is being hosted by UAPB this year. The Lady Lions play the first game of the tournament on Thursday, November 4th at 10:30am at the UAPB Pumphrey Soccer Field.
