JONESBORO, AR – Jenise Gentry was one rebound away from a double-double as the Lady Lions fall to, in-state rival, Arkansas State 59-47 Monday evening.
Arkansas State started the game on a 6-2 run but the Lady Lions answered with an 11-6 run and took a 13-12 lead with 7:36 left in the first half. The score remained 13-12 for the next 2:14 as both teams went on a shooting drought, shooting a combined average of 22.5% from the field.
The Lady Lions were down 26-21 at the break.
The Red Wolves started the second half on a 6-0 run and expanded their margin to double-digits. The Lady Lions fought back and came within six, 46-40 with 8:02 left in the game, but could never get over the hump.
The Lady Lions were led by Jasmine Abrams with 14 points and 7 rebounds, followed by Jenise Gentry with 11 points 9 rebounds.
The Lady Lions will be back in action Monday, Nov. 22 as they travel to Tucson, Arizona to take on the Wildcats of University of Arizona. Game time is set for 11:00am local time.
