Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Webber Named Finalist For Walter Payton Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 20 finalists for the Walter Payton Award as the top player in NCAA-FCS football were announced on Monday, and three SWAC players are on the ballot highlighted by Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Raymond Webber.
“Raymond Webber has proven not only to be one of the best receivers in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, but also one of the best in all of college football,” said UAPB Offensive Coordinator Jerry Mack. “Without a doubt, he has proven to be one of the greatest players to ever wear a Golden Lions uniform.”
Webber finished the season for Arkansas-Pine Bluff leading the nation in receptions (101) and yards receiving 1,429.  His 101 catches is only the third time in SWAC history a receiver has caught more than 100 balls. Jerry Rice did it twice (103 in 1984, and 102 in 1983).
