HOUSTON, Texas - Marcus Wright ran for 134 yards and a touchdown to lead Texas Southern to a 20-13 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday night.
Texas Southern (8-3, 8-1 SWAC) shutout the Golden Lions (5-6, 4-5) in the first half, scoring on a touchdown run by Wright and two field goals by Robert Hersh.
The Golden Lions got on the board just after halftime when Josh Boudreaux found Torrence Shelton Jr., to make it 13-7.
TSU extended its lead late in the third period on a short scoring run by Martin Gilbert.
Boudreaux and Shelton connected again midway through the fourth quarter cutting the TSU lead to 20-13 after a Chris Ewald missed extra point.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff failed to convert a critical fourth down attempt and the Tigers went on to capture the win. UAPB's Boudreaux finished the game going 22 for 42 for 165 yards.
Golden Lions wide receiver Raymond Webber tallied 11 catches for 111 yards. Webber became only the second SWAC receiver to catch 100 passes in a single season. He now joins Mississippi Valley State's Jerry Rice as the only two players to accomplish that feat.
