Weekend Recap #1: Stewart 1:56/4:31, Zimlich 11-06 PV

The Kentucky Indoor Track season got into full swing on Saturday with athletes competing in three high school meets. 

 

 

-          The KTCCCA held their first of many indoor meets at the US Bank Complex in Maysville with nine schools from Kentucky and Ohio competing.  Amelia Baylon of duPont Manual had three victories on the day in the high jump (4-10), long jump (14-01) and the 400m Dash (1:08.27.)  Torey Duncan of Lloyd Memorial won the 1600m (6:05) and 3000m Run (12:36.)  Jessica Crabtree of Lloyd Memorial won the 55m Hurdles in 9.49.

 

In the boys action, Darrell Gardner from duPont Manual won the 55m Dash in 6.96 and 400m Dash in 58.18.  The best performance of the day was from a Ohioan as Macklyn Tudor won the Shot Put with a toss of 50-00.50.

 

The middle school action was dominated by the Ossege sisters as they won four events total.  Lauren won the 800m Run (2:53) and 1600m Run (6:06).  Her younger sister, Sydney won the 55m Dash (8.45) and 400m Dash (1:16.)

 

-          North Hardin senior Andrew Stewart traveled south to the University of Arkansas for the Arkansas HS Invitational where he won his premiere event the 800m Run.  He ran a 1:56.94 to win by a half second.  He also placed 13th in the One Mile Run with a time of 4:31.40.

 

-          Louisville Ballard senior Megan Zimlich traveled to Akron, Ohio for the Akron Jerome Fields Meet OPEN HS Welcome.  She placed 2nd overall in the Pole Vault hitting a new career best of 11-06.

 

Also quite a few former Kentucky runners were competing at the Kentucky Invitational in Lexington at UK.  A few highlights:

 

Samantha Stenzel (Paul Dunbar/UK) was 2nd in the Pole Vault -12-01.50

 

Chip Heuser (St. Xavier/Unattached) won the Pole Vault – 17-00.75

 

Chinwe Okoro (Russell/UL) was 4th in the Shot Put – 49-09.75

 

Sharika Smith (Fulton County/WKU won the Triple Jump – 42-03 and 4th in the Long Jump 19-05.25

 

Anna Bostrom (Woodford County/UK) was 9th in the One Mile Run – 4:58

 

Matt Hillenbrand (St. Xavier/UK was 10th in the One Mile Run – 4:16

 

Adam Kahleifeh (Bardstown/UK) was 11th in the 800m Run – 1:54.78

 

Gerry Cooper (duPont Manual/EKU) was 8th in the 200m Dash – 22.43
