The Arkansas high school track and field season has ended and now it's time for the post season. It all begins today in Huntsville, Alabama, where several of the Natural State's best will represent Arkansas at the Running Lane Track Championships.
Har-Ber's Hattie Ray Beshears is the No. 1 seed in the Championship girls 3200 meters, which is scheduled for a 9:50 p.m. start time. Beshears will be looking to improve on her personal record of 10:02, which she ran earlier this at the Arcadia Invitational.
Beshears will not be the only Arkansan in the championship race. Bentonville's Madysen Hantuba will be in the mix as well. Hantuba is the No. 23 seed coming in with a time of 10:38.
While there are no entries from Arkansas in boys' championship race, Fayetteville's Alan Gallardo-Lopez will be one to watch in the event. He is scheduled to run at 9:25 p.m. in the second to last heat of the 3200.
There are several girls from Arkansas who will be running in the second fastest heat of the 3200 meters. Bentonville freshman Flannery O'Daniel (10:43), Jonesboro's Lauren Thompson (10:49), and Rogers' Katherine Scudder (11:01) will be in the heat which is scheduled for a 9:10 p.m. start time.
There are no entries from Arkansas in the championships races of the 800 meters. However, keep an eye on Cabot's Savannah Fisher (2:14)and Fayetteville's Helen Hesselgren (2:13) in the second to last heat in the event.
Cabot's Reese Fisher (1:52) is Arkansas' highest seeded runner in the 800 meters. He will be running in the second fastest heat in the event. That race is scheduled for a 8:35pm start time.
