LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (9/23/2011) — Junior David Mills led the ASU men with a fourth-place finish and junior Samantha Salinas paced the A-State women, also finishing fourth Friday evening at the UALR Invitational cross country meet at Rebsamen Golf Course.
Mills ran the 8k course in 25:00.25 to lead three ASU runners to top-12 finishes among 98 runners, while Salinas finished the 5k run in 18:07.42 to pace six Red Wolves to top-12 finishes among 86 competitors. Team scores were not kept in either run.
Four of ASU's top six finishers in the women's race were freshmen, including Rexi Parcells, who finished fifth (18:17.33). Senior Chelsea Weaver ran seventh (18:36.13), freshman Chelsey Robertson finished ninth (18:42.96), freshman Tilda Helgesson finished 10th (18:51.23) and freshman Heather Newberry placed 12th (18:56.26).
For the men, senior James Ngwiri ran 10th (26:12.68) and freshman Luke Lindsley finished 12th (26:32.59).
The Red Wolves will return to action Oct. 1 when they run in the Greater Louisville Invitational.
