JONESBORO, Ark. (12/1/2011) — Ten schools will join the Arkansas State track and field teams Friday at the ASU Convocation Center when the Red Wolves' indoor season gets underway at the ASU Kickoff Klassic.

Athletes from Ole Miss, UALR, Memphis, Harding, Mississippi Valley State, Southeast Louisiana, Central Arkansas, UAPB, Missouri State and Rhodes College will join the Red Wolves at Friday's meet, which gets underway at 11:00 a.m. with the throwing events and preliminary races for the running events.  Running event finals are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.

“We are looking forward to getting the season started this weekend,” said ASU head coach Jim Patchell.  “The distance crew has a season under their belt, but the other event groups have been training all fall and are excited about competing. I have been very pleased with the progress of the team in fall training and hope to see some good performances on Friday.”

The Kickoff Klassic is the first of two home meets for the Red Wolves and begins a slate of four regular-season meets.  The A-State Invitational is set for Jan. 27, followed by the Feb 4. Illinois Blue and Gold Invite.   Arkansas State will also participate in the Feb. 10 Indiana Hoosier Hills, before heading to Murfreesboro, Tenn. Feb. 25 for the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
