Logan Thiel, Jessica Maggio Sign NLIs to Attend Arkansas State

Clearwater, FL (May 10, 2012) Calvary Christian High School seniors, Logan Thiel and Jessica Maggio, signed letters of intent to run track for Arkansas State University. Thiel, the daughter of Greg and Chris Thiel, became the first female athlete in the school’s history to qualify for the FHSAA State Track Meet. She accomplished this as a sophomore. As a senior, Thiel qualified for the FHSAA State Track Meet in the 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, and as the anchor in the 4x400 meter relay. She earned a medal by finishing 6th in the 400 meter dash and as a member of the state runner-up relay team in the 4 x 400. She ends her career at Calvary with school records in the 300 meter hurdles, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, and as a member of the 4 x 400 meter relay team.
 
Jessica Maggio, daughter of Johnny & Paula Buscema, will join Thiel at Arkansas State. Maggio qualified for the 2012 FHSAA State Meet in the Long Jump, 100 meter dash, 100 meter hurdles, and as a member of the 4 x 400 meter relay team. She came away from the state meet with a runner-up medal in the 100 meter hurdles and a medal as a member of the state runner-up relay team in the 4 x 400. Maggio leaves Calvary with the school records in the 100 meter hurdles, the long jump, and as a member of the 4 x 400 meter relay team.
 
Thiel and Maggio will join the Red Wolves Track & Field Team led by Head Coach, Jim Patchell. From 2007 – 2011, Arkansas State produce 47 Sun Belt Conference Champions, 29 Regional Qualifiers, 17 National Qualifiers, 5 All-Americans, and one Olympian.
