Meet Information

THE STAR CITY XC CLASSIC HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR THE 2020 SEASON DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES. THERE WERE SEVERAL FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO HAVING TO CANCEL THE MEET THIS SEASON AND WE ARE DEEPLY SADDENED. WE WILL TRY TO HOST THE MEET NEXT YEAR IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE AND WE HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT SEASON AS WE ALL GUIDE THROUGH NEW CHALLENGES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND SPORTS! 

Dear Coach,

On September 26, 2020 Star City High School is proud to start back up our annual meet at Cane Creek State Park. This year the Star City XC Classic will be electronically chip timed by: 516 Race Timing

COVID-19 Guidelines: Due to the current global pandemic we will limit this event to the first 18 schools to sign up. For clarification if I want to sign up both my High School and my Junior High that counts as 1 school. We will do our best to mark our camp locations at least 10 feet apart however that may not be possible. The Governors Mandate on Face Masks will be strictly enforced. If you are unable to maintain 6 feet social distancing you will be required to wear a mask. This goes for Participants, Parents, Coaches, and Meet Staff. Participants will be required to wear a mask anytime they are not engaged in activity. So if they are warming up, running the race, or cooling down they will not be required to wear a mask, but if they are just sitting at your schools camp site and are unable to maintain social distancing then a mask will be required. There will be signs posted at the entrance providing warning about COVID-19 and explaining risks. The Star City School District and Cane Creek State Park are not liable should you become exposed to COVID-19 while attending this meet. Coaches please make sure to ask your athletes the COVID-19 screening questions before bringing them to the meet. If you have any questions concerning COVID-19 guidelines for this meet please contact Eddie Potts. 

Bus Parking: This year we will park the buses near the course. You will take the first road on the left once you enter the State park. We will park the buses near the Maintanence building as long as it doesnt rain the day before the race. If it rains a bunch the day before than we will have to park buses in the boat launch parking lot. 

Parent Parking: You will need to have your parents park in the big parking lot right before the course. They  will take a right to the boat launch area and there is a huge parking lot. There will also be a shuttle for parents to get up to where the race will be held if needed. If that parking lot fills up parents may park at the pavilion parking lot down past the race. 

Medical Attention: Medical staff will be on site with trained paramedics in the event of any injuries. Cane Creek is also providing several park rangers and workers who are medically trained in wilderness and State Park first aid. 

Entries: We will be using Mile Split for online entries this year so you can go to: ar.milesplit.com to enter this meet. Feel free to contact me if you are having any difficulties with this. Deadline to register is WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 23 AT 4:00 P.M.

Meet Fees:


$50 per team

$10 per individual runner if not enough for a full team

Max payment per school is $200 (for 4 teams).

This race is formerly known as the Los Toritos Invitational.

The course is mainly on shaded trails at Cane Creek State Park, located approximately 5 miles east of Star City.

Medals will be given to the Top 10 finishers in each race. Top 5 finishers will also receive a "Top 5" t-shirt.

The top two teams in each race will receive a plaque.



Meet times:


Coaches Meeting: 8:30 a.m.



Jr. High Girls -- 9 a.m.

Jr. High Boys -- 9:30 a.m.

Sr. High Girls -- 10 a.m.

Sr. High Boys -- 10:30 a.m.

Award Ceremony will follow the completion of the Senior Boys race.
