3A TRIPLE CROWN - Genoa Central

Genoa Central Dragons

In the fall, Genoa Central girls started off with the goal of winning their 3rd straight XC title.  They cruised to an easy win with 5 runners in the top 10, scoring 24 points over second place Greenland with 110. Tera Frost (21:05.50) leading the way with a second place finish, and Victoria Hill (21:11.60) finishing 3rd.

When the new year rolled around, at the State Indoor A-4A meet, the girls thought it would be tough to win without their basketball players. Lizzy Clinton led the way with a strong showing in the sprints and jumps.  Cassey Gay led the way in the distance races. Genoa Central wins the Indoor State meet with a total of 89 points over second place Heber Springs (57).

Finally, with a full team, they finished off the triple crown Tuesday night at the 3A State Meet in Green Forest.  Lizzy and Cassey led a strong team effort to help with the win.  Eden Crow scored well in the throws. Genoa's team strength is depth, not superstars.  They had athletes in the top 8 in every event. They cruised to another easy win over second place Green Forest 127- 53. Genoa Central girls are just a rock solid team that refuses to lose.

"I'd like to thank our fans, who drove 6 hours to show up in force.  Community support is so important to our team!" Coach John Murphy
