Providence Classical got the slim one point win at last year's state meet, but this year, they extended the margin when they only tallied 23 points to get the win over Shiner St. Paul.
In 2022, St. Paul was third behind Amarillo Ascension Academy, but jumped them for the runner-up team position by eight points 62<70.
The top four runners at last year's 2A boys state meet were all seniors. That opened the door for several boys who may have aspired to win this year's title.
The opportunity was seized by Valor Prep sophomore Ethan Locke. The sophomore was able to get a thirteen-second win over Gabe Preston (Lubbock Southcrest Christian). The senior was fifth place at last year's championships and was able to upgrade to a runner-up finish this year.
Providence Classical had two juniors Steven Wimberly and Henry Stevens come through in third and fourth places with Jorden Anderson making it two top-five finishes for Lubbock Southcrest Christian.

Last year's top three all grabbed the same positions again this year. Spring Providence Classical earned another state title with a mere 28 point total. Their sub 50 second team split is what was the difference and drove them to the top of the awards podium this year.
Lubbock Southcrest Christian came through as runner-up finishers again by scoring only 54 points and Amarillo Ascension was third with 94 points.
