SPRINTS


CHRIS HILTON

Chris Hilton of Zachary has demonstrated his talent since he was a freshman by jumping a height of 6-8 in the high jump. Hilton has furthered his best mark to 7-0.25 which ranked him at #2 in the nation for indoor and is currently ranked at #5 in the nation for outdoors with a height of 7-0. However, this is not the only event that lands him on this list. Hilton shows out in the sprint disciplines in both the 200m and 400m with times of 21.33 and 47.50. Hilton's versatility ranks him in the top 60 in the nation for these three events. Before competing in the 2021 outdoor track and field state championships, Hilton has garnered four individual state titles in both the 400m and high jump. Hilton will continue to compete at the collegiate level with Louisiana State University (LSU).


KASHIE CROCKETT

Kashie Crockett of Ouachita Parish High School has dominated the hurdles this season and has some of the fastest times in the nation in these events. Crockett's best events are the 110m and 300m hurdles with times of 13.76 and 36.42. His 300m hurdles time ranks him #3 in the nation and is followed by his 110m hurdles which also ranks him at #3 in the nation. Crockett has proved that he is untouchable in the hurdles in Louisiana. In past seasons, Crockett has been a routine face to see on the podium in the 60m, 110m, and 300m hurdles. Crockett has committed to attend the University of Louisiana, Lafayette.


JONATHAN GREEN

Jonathan Green of Carencro proves himself in the 100m and 200m dash. Green's best event is the 200m with a time of 21.24. This time ranks him among the top 40 in the nation. He also runs the 100m dash in a time of 10.47. Green is an athlete that could be competitive in either event and has proven to be a worthy opponent for state titles. Green has not yet committed to compete for a university in track and field.


KENSON TATE

Kenson Tate of Zachary shows strength in sprints and jumps. Tate competes in the long jump and leads the state with his leap of 24-10.75. This mark ranks him #2 in the nation, but Tate also collects fast times from the short sprints as well. During the indoor season, Tate split a fast time in the 60m dash of 6.89 seconds which placed him in the top 35 in the nation. Moving on to the outdoor season, he finished with a 10.65 in the 100m dash and a 21.45 in the 200m dash. Tate is also a two-time state champion in the 60m dash and long jump from this past season. Kenson Tate will further his athletic career at Lamar University.


LANARD HARRIS

Lanard Harris of Woodlawn BR is a top hurdling talent that is competitive on the national level. Harris posted both of his personal bests at the LHSAA state meet in the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles. Harris's performance in the 110m hurdles landed him with a time of 13.95 and places him #8 in the nation. Harris follows up with a 300m hurdle performance of 36.91 which also places his at #8 in the nation. Harris has been one of the top hurdlers on the scene in Louisiana this year and has had stout competition with Kashie Crockett within class 5A. Harris will continue to run at the collegiate level for the University of Louisiana, Lafayette.
