As the 2023 Arkansas High School cross country season creeps closer, the team at MileSplit Arkansas is preparing for the fall by providing preseason coverage across the state's six divisions.

As our coverage of Division 1A continues, today we will look at some athletes primed to take a big step forward and position themselves for a breakout season in 2023.

While that was not the result the junior from Ozark Catholic was looking for, Schaefer came back this track season and ran personal bests in all three distance events and finished the season ranked 5th in the 1,600m and 6th in the 3,200m.

Now, the rising senior enters the fall looking to cap his high school career off in a big way and is undoubtedly a runner that could break out in a big way this season.
